Miri Cooper
My name is Miri and I am a recognised Birth and Postnatal Doula and a Hypnobirthing
instructor from Royston, working in Cambridge, surrounding villages around
Cambridgeshire, Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire.
My husband and I have three kids. All of my births were very different and unique and I
have learnt a lot from each of them. I had two hospital births and the latest was a very calm
and relaxed home birth.
The journey of birth is a remarkable process that marks the beginning of a new life. It is a
miraculous event that involves several stages, each with its own unique characteristics and
challenges. It is a transformative experience that shapes the lives of both the newborn and
the parents.
I’m very passionate about the physiology and psychology of giving birth; this is why I
became a doula. I love working with birthing families; as your Doula I will be providing you
with support, knowledge, advocacy and companionship through your most precious
moments in life and I find it to be such a privilege to do so.
I believe that each woman/birthing person has got the right to give birth the way they want
to. This is an experience that you will never forget and, therefore, it should be special and
beautiful. I would like to help you achieve that.
As a dedicated advocate, I help you navigate through your birth choices. Helping parents
make informed decisions that align with their preferences and values is an absolute passion.
My presence and knowledge create a nurturing environment, fostering a sense of control
and empowerment during this significant life event. Through my dedication, I contribute to
shaping positive and empowering birth experiences, leaving an indelible impact on the
journey to parenthood.
I can talk you through procedures and technical lingo and I’m there to provide physical and
emotional support throughout pregnancy, birth and postnatal period.
In addition to my role as a birth doula, my expertise extends to being an antenatal and
Hypnobirthing teacher, a postnatal doula, and a breastfeeding counsellor. My
comprehensive skill set positions me as a holistic guide throughout the entire perinatal
journey. As an antenatal and Hypnobirthing teacher, I equip parents with invaluable
knowledge and relaxation techniques, fostering a positive mindset for the impending birth.
In the postnatal period, my doula support becomes a reassuring presence, aiding families in
navigating the initial challenges of parenthood. Furthermore, as a breastfeeding counsellor,
I provide specialised assistance, ensuring a smooth and fulfilling breastfeeding experience.
My diverse roles showcase a commitment to not only the birthing process but to the
continuum of care, highlighting my dedication to supporting parents at every stage with
expertise and empathy.
I have experience with supporting Hypnobirths, Natural births, Hospital births, Water births,
Home births, Breech, Inductions, VBAC (vaginal birth after caesarean), planned caesarean
section and twins.
If you are interested in hiring a Doula, please contact me so we can organise an initial chat
(free of charge) so we can get to know each other and talk through your wishes and needs.
