Elle Fleming
I trained to become a birth and postnatal doula with Developing Doulas after working with two lovely doulas for my first pregnancy and birth with my daughter in 2020 and thinking “wow, this is life changing - everyone needs this support”!
Prior to that my world was evolutionary anthropology, and there’s been more crossover than you might expect. I’ve come to believe passionately that a lot of what makes modern parenting so difficult comes from the disconnect between how we were evolved to live and parent and the realities of our modern society - especially the breakdown of support networks. I’ve spent the last three years helping families reclaim positive experiences through a combination of a greater understanding of their and their baby’s evolved norms (we’re primates after all!) and the practical hands-on help we all deserve when creating and guiding a little life. I’m a total birth and baby nerd, and I love to put the skills I gained as a researcher to use in helping families make evidence-informed decisions that feel instinctively right for them.
I’m also a member of the LGBTQIA+ community, an identity which helps me understand the many different ways in which a parenthood journey and a family can be uniquely gorgeous.
